Snowflakes reveal the deep structure of nature condensed into a frozen moment.
The hexagon structure of a snowflake is the same as the forces of nature that hold molecules together. Molecules are always moving. Freezing happens when the molecules of a liquid get so cold, they slow down enough to hook onto each other, forming a solid crystal. Snowflakes compress to form glaciers and break off to form icebergs.
This work references Wilson Bentley’s Snow Crystals book of snowflakes photographed under magnification, testing his theory that every snowflake is unique, as it’s journey through time is different.
